Summit Evaluation & Feedback

It was a great pleasure to be involved with hosting the Colorado Arts Education Summit on Saturday, June 16, 2007. It was particularly gratifying to see the passion and commitment of so many individuals to quality arts education for all Colorado students - a commitment that extended to taking precious time on a Saturday to attend and contribute to the Summit.
Thanks to those that completed the Evaluation form. 80 forms were returned, approximately 40% of Summit participants. Here are some of the results:

  • Mark Slavkin's luncheon keynote remarks were the star of the show, with 62% rating it Excellent and 96% giving a rating of Good or Excellent. Some folks did have trouble with the sound system and hearing him clearly. Many found Mark's remarks thought provoking. Another typical comment "Very encouraging remarks! It gives me great hope that we can accomplish the same if not more here in Colorado."
  • The Opening Rally - The Time is Now! was also well received. Attendees were pleased that Lt. Governor Barbara O'Brien and other elected officials supported our efforts by speaking and felt that the Opening Session set an inspriational tone for the Summit. "Nice to hear others put your passion about arts education into words." "I really liked how closely linked today is to what is happening at a political level in our state."
  • While the Team Action Plan Breakout Session received high ratings, there was mixed success. Some teams felt they were able to make real progress in the time allowed, others were a bit frustrated at just getting started when it was over and would have liked more time. "Very important part of the day - time to share and expand on ideas." "Glad to have time to get a plan in writing and talk through ideas while fresh in our minds."
  • The speed and ease of registration could have been improved, including several suggestions that in the future the Lab descriptions be distibuted in advance.
  • Lunch was a hit and folks really enjoyed ending with the kids performance. "Fun!" "Great closing - helps to remember that its all about the KIDS!"

I'll share feedback on the Labs and other components soon, but thanks for sharing your reactions and suggestions on the Summit by commenting below. Should we plan another Summit?
