We're working on perspective drawing in our Foundations art class now, taking over the hallway with our gargantuan still lives. The students have to choose a still life in a box and draw it in perspective. I will be posting the student work shortly (I'm in the middle of documenting it right now) and then we'll be creating online portfolios. In the meantime, here are some shots of our new still life:

When I was in high school, our art teacher, Dick, announced that we were going to have a final exam. This was a bit of a surprise because we hadn't had any tests or quizzes at all that year and it left us wondering what unforgivable artistic offense we had committed to have one thrown upon us when report cards were looming. When we arrived in class for our exam, Dick didn't say anything, but had the exam requirements on the board:Draw two eggs and a box.
Actually, thats 06.07.08 - June 7th, 2008 is Drawing Day!

Here's the problem that a lot of art teachers have with Deviant Art: a lot of the images are violent, exploitive, juvenile, and very often - really bad. This is of course, only a problem in the context of students logging on in the classroom. We're trying to teach Rembrant and the students are looking at images of scantly clad busty women with swords that are dripping with blood.
